The mechanics of your dishwasher are quite simple. Water is taken into
the machine and heated by the element at the bottom of the cabinet.
The machine does not fill up like a washing machine and uses much less
water. Once the water enters the dishwasher the detergent dispenser
opens and the detergent mixes with the water. This solution is then pumped
through the spray arms and the force of the water makes the arms rotate.
The water is heated to a temperature far hotter than the human hand can
stand. This is one of the reasons why automatic dishwashing is so much
More hygienic than hand washing. At the end of the wash there is a short
cold rinse to remove the dirty water and then a hot rinse. During the hot
rinse a tiny amount of rinse agent is automatically injected into the water.
This stops water droplets clinging to the glasses, crockery and cutlery so
they dry spot free and sparkling. Finally the items are dry.
